To the Residents of West Virginia’s 55 Counties, North South East & West!

From Aileen Curfman, Conservation Chair, West Virginia Sierra Club

You’re invited to the annual Environmental Day at the West Virginia State Capital on February 28 from 9 AM to 2 PM.

This event is organized each year by the West Virginia Environmental Council. It’s a great opportunity to connect with our legislators and to network with other environmentalists across the state.

The Environmental Council has put together a short list of some legislation to address West Virginia’s long-standing environmental and economic woes.

E-Day 2023 Information and Registration ~ Call to Action

There are currently over 6,500 orphaned wells across the state of West Virginia. These wells were left behind by the oil and gas industry, leaving taxpayers responsible for the costs to plug them. Not only is this an economic liability, but these orphaned wells also pose a major threat to landowners’ property rights, to the environment and to the communities in which they are located.
