Antero Clearwater Treatment Facility has applied for a NPDES Permit from WV-DEP.

Looks like Antero Clearwater may be getting ready to open up again. The public comment period began December 08, 2021 and ends January 07, 2022.

The following has applied for a WV NPDES Water Pollution Control Permit for this facility or activity: Appl. No.: WV0117650; Applicant: ANTERO TREATMENT LLC, 1615 WYNKOOP STREET, DENVER, CO 80202

Location: PENNSBORO, DODDRIDGE COUNTY; Latitude: 39:16:08; Longitude: 80:53:44; Receiving Stream: UNT/DOTSON RUN

Activity: To operate, and maintain a closed system recycle centralized wastewater treatment facility (designed to treat wastewater associated with shale development for reuse) and to prevent the discharge of any process wastewaters from this system to waters of the State of West Virginia.

Also, to operate, and maintain treatment and disposal systems and best management practices for the direct discharge of treated (sediment basin, sediment trap) industrial storm water via Outlets 001 and 002 and untreated industrial storm water via Outlet 003 to an unnamed tributary of Dotson Run of North Fork Hughes River of Hughes River of the Little Kanawha.

An antidegradation review has been conducted and Tier 1 protection is provided for the uses specified in Title 47, Series 2, Section 6.

Business conducted: Oil and Gas Field Services — On the basis of review of the application, the “Water Pollution Control Act (Chapter 22, Article 11-8(a)),” and the “West Virginia Legislative Rules,” the State of West Virginia will act on the above application.

Any interested person may submit written comments on the draft permit and may request a public hearing by addressing such to the Director of the Division of Water and Waste Management within 30 days of the date of the public notice. Such comments or requests should be addressed to:

The public comment period begins December 08, 2021 and ends January 07, 2022. Comments received within this period will be considered prior to acting on the permit application. The Director shall hold a public hearing whenever a finding is made, on the basis of requests, that there is a significant degree of public interest on issues relevant to the Draft Permit(s).
