Gasland II in Pittsburgh on June 20th

CCJ and other area organizations are co-sponsoring a FREE advanced screening of Gasland II in Pittsburgh.  Filmmaker Josh Fox will be coming to Pittsburgh for the last stop on the Gasland II Grassroots Tour on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, 4141 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA,15213.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7:00 p.m., with a question and answer afterwards with Josh Fox.  This showing is free and open to public. If you are interested in going and want to carpool, call the office at CCJ office at 724-229-3550.

NOTE: According to Tom Wilber, Fox’s approach is urgent and unsettled – and in the hyper-tasking 21st Century media style, he packs an excessive number of visual cues and audio bites per minute of film. He moves from place to place, issue to issue, victim to victim, story to story, grounding the film in the occasional return to his own back yard, where the gas companies are closing in on a pristine section of the Delaware River Watershed.

Along the way, he sheds light on some important issues: the revolving door between the government institutions and the gas industry, the psychological warfare tactics the industry employs as a public relations strategy, and the chronic issue of methane migration found at drill sites globally.

Mountain Watershed Association and a league of allied sponsors bring you an advanced screening of the film GASLAND Part II. Before anyone else sees the film on HBO, you get a sneak peak on June 20th at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall (4141 Fifth Ave) in Pittsburgh. Doors at 6:00pm, pre-screening show at 6:30, film begins at 7:00. The event is free and seats are first come first served. Filmmaker Josh Fox will be on hand to offer Q&A afterward.

In the sequel to his Emmy-winning documentary GASLAND, Fox continues to document the effects of the shale gas energy source, including new contaminated water cases, earthquakes and more people whose lives have been irreparably damaged.
