by Dee Fulton on July 28, 2011

The Dominion Post reported today that Larry and Jana Rine Have settled their suit against Chesapeake for an undisclosed sum and agreed to confidentiality.  The couple charged Chesapeake with deliberately allowing water containing toxic substances to contact unprotected land.  See FrackCheckWV, April 14 for background story

Chespeake is a defendant in 3 other cases.  The Dominion Post also listed a Marion County case in which Richard Cain is suing XTO Energy, a Harrison County case in which Salvatore Bombardiere is suing Schlumberger, Consol, subsidiary CNX, and SOS Staffing Services for exposure to chemicals causing “physical mental pain, scarring and disfigurement” while working on a drilling operation,  and a Marshall County case in which a group of 11 plaintiffs are challenging Chesapeake’s claim that the company can extend a lease previously held by Range Resources.

SeekingAlpha recaps the full story.
