Pollution trail in sky west of I-79

Pollution trail seen beyond local power plant steam plumes

NOTE PHOTOS: Atmospheric Pollution Trail From Clarksburg to Morgantown from Betsy Lawson, Morgantown, WV

Saturday morning while driving north on I-79, a long, uninterrupted ribbon of brown, purple, grey pollution was seen near the western horizon. This started in the vicinity of the Harrison Power plant just north of Clarksburg and stretched at least as far as Morgantown.

We’ve never seen a cloud formation that looked anything like it. The second photo looks toward the Fort Martin and Longview power plants from University Town Center. The pollution trail still appears low on the western horizon from I-79. So the length of this trail is at least 35 miles, perhaps much more?
