Dear Friends and Fellow Citizens,

From the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, December 9, 2019

Right now, delegates from nearly 200 countries are meeting to address the global climate emergency. And Trump is nowhere to be found.

The Trump Administration is formally pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement. This is an outrage and an abandonment of our role as a global superpower. The Trump Administration should stay in the fight against the climate crisis!

From December 2 through 13, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP25, is taking place in Spain to reset emission targets and assume leadership positions in the urgent global attempt to address the rapidly heating planet. If the Trump Administration succeeds in pulling the US from the Paris Agreement, the US will lose a seat at the table.

This is a shameful abdication of our responsibility to ourselves and the entire world.

We should demand that the Trump Administration not abandon the Paris Climate Agreement!

International goals to keep global emissions from rising to unsustainable levels cannot be met unless everyone does their part. We are racing against the clock and withdrawal from the climate treaty of the world’s largest economy and second largest polluter is unacceptable.

We expect the US to be a leader in addressing the climate crisis. We refuse to allow the short-sightedness of this administration to undermine our future. Quitting is not an option.

Join us in demanding that the US remain in the Paris Climate Agreement and do its part in averting an irreversible climate breakdown.

Sincerely,

Mike Tidwell, Executive Director, CCAN Action Fund
