		<description>&lt;strong&gt;Northam Misses Environmental Equity Opportunity&lt;/strong&gt;

Press Release, NRDC, March 27, 2019

WASHINGTON – Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam outlined his environmental priorities for the state against the backdrop of his recent personal focus on racial equity.

The following is a statement from Dawone Robinson, regional coordinator for energy affordability at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC):

“It’s encouraging that Gov. Northam recognizes that protection for poor and vulnerable communities deserves more attention, but the governor ignored the most important environmental justice issue in the state. If he is serious about racial equity, Northam should end his support for the harmful compressor project in Union Hill.”

Robinson will deliver an address tomorrow on the issue of environmental and racial equity at the same Environment Virginia Symposium that Northam addressed today.

For more on the compressor project, please see this blog by Montina Cole, senior attorney with the Sustainable FERC Project, housed within NRDC.
