		<description>&lt;strong&gt;Dear Friend of Interfaith Power &amp; Light -- 2/27/16&lt;/strong&gt;

The 2016 election will be critical in determining how our country responds to the climate crisis and if we follow through on the commitments we made to the rest of the world in Paris. We hope that all people of faith will consider the climate and care for Creation when they vote.

That’s why we encouraged Faith in Public Life to include climate in the Faith Voter Reflection Guide. For the first time, this influential guide includes a section called “Global Warming: A Threat to Creation and our Children’s Future,” along with other issues that are relevant to the faith voter. Feel free to print it out and share it with your faith community.

As a nonpartisan nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization we do not endorse specific candidates, nor do our congregations. But that doesn’t mean we can’t encourage and support our congregants in doing their civic duty and voting with their values in mind.

Click below to download the guide and get other tips on how your congregation can support you and your community in voting your faith this year.

If we work together, this will be the year that people of faith will stand up and demand that candidates for office address the most urgent moral issue of our time: climate change.

Leadership from the United States in both reducing our own emissions and supporting vulnerable nations around the world is critical if the Paris Accord is to be a success. These elections, which occur less than one year after the breakthrough in Paris when 195 nations agreed to act on climate change, will be a moment of truth. They will send powerful message to the rest of the world about where the United States stands on the issue.

It is not acceptable that cities are being poisoned by air pollution, washed away, or economically failing due to the impacts of global warming. Now is the time to say enough is enough. We must protect Creation for our children and grandchildren, and we must elect candidates who understand the urgency of the issue.

Interfaith Power &amp; Light is pleased to be working with Faith in Public Life and other partners, to ensure that climate is one of the key issues people of faith take into account when they vote.

As Pope Francis reminds us, the Earth is our common home, and the climate belongs to everyone. Climate change is the greatest threat humans have ever faced. It will only be solved if people everywhere in the world act together. Let’s lead the way. Please help us make a difference by voting for the Earth this year.

Thank you, Susan Stephenson
