US House of Reps. passes Keystone XL authorization by vote of 266 - 153 (mostly Republicans) at 1 pm on 1/9/15.

This bill will permit the use of eminent domain for a foreign company (Canadian) to take and use the private land of US citizens without their approval. This bill exempts a private Canadian company from paying into the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund. This bill permits the transport and processing of (dirty) tar sands crude in the United States thus contributing to greenhouse gases, global warming and climate change.

[The US Senate takes up a similar bill on Monday. President Obama is expected to veto the final bill.]
