SENATORS SPOKE ALL THE NIGHT THROUGH

Did you see them? Just last night, almost a third of the U.S. Senate spoke up for climate change in an all-night session on the Senate floor. This event, organized by Senators Whitehouse (RI), Boxer (CA), and Schatz (HI) was intended as a wake-up call to Congress to act on climate change.

Leadership took a no-nonsense stand against climate change deniers. “Climate change is real. It’s here,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid last night when he called for urgent action on climate change.

The approximately 30 senators who participated last night put themselves in the spotlight – and we need to thank them for sending a clear message that Washington must protect Creation before it’s too late.

Will you sign IPL’s petition today to thank these U.S. senators for their efforts to bring national attention to climate change?

An all-night session is rare in Washington, and it’s a big deal. That’s why we need to show them that people of faith were watching, and we appreciate their leadership.

Points: Seems to me that money talks louder than anything else these days, so appealing to the costs of "natural" disasters should be addressed. I heard a figure on a news program recently that it costs the US about $500 B per year. I have not substantiated this, but it's not surprising. So when Mitch McConnell and others speak about us not being able to afford regulating industries, I understand corporations will spend more, and the costs will certainly be handed down to consumers, but it inactivity seems to cost us much more.
