Although fracking is certainly suspect, I would like to point out that wellbore integrity issues are more than likely caused by poor drilling, casing, and lack of cement. At this point it is amplified by high volume high pressure hydraulic fracturing.

It is interesting that conventional drilling and smaller stage fracturing has a lot less integrity issues and therefor less contamination issues. It is also interesting that perforations in vertical wells are aimed in different directions, unlike horizontals that aim the perforations and therefor fractures towards the Aquifer/surface. Up and down verses sideways, and conventional versus unconventional methods, are like comparing a fly to an elephant.

It doesn't seem to me that these unconventional shale plays are an exact science. With this in mind I urge people to educate themselves about these issues and I can only thank the folks at www.FrackCheckWV.net for the great work being done.
