WOW, what a story that needs to be heard! This is an amazing article and after reading it and getting angry I see more and more the need for shale drilling to be looked at a lot more in-depth and in detail.

There have been way too many of these types of stories going around with not much being done about it. Thanks you again for this great piece of writing that needs to be shared over and over again.

Recently, I have seen writings on Fracking and Water Quality. The concern I have is the development of new wells near old wells drilled in times when the environment wasnt even considered. What I mean is long ago there were poor methods of stucturing wells. Casing and cement were a joke and have deteriorated since these wells were drilled over a century ago. If these wells are within a certian distance from where current drilling and super fracks are done then you have a chance of communication.

If the casing and cement is of poor quality then you could have potential contaminations. All formations are harder or softer and have different levels of porosity. I would wonder if fracking with these huge pressures is an exact science. Using hydraulic methods cannot guarantee that they are not contaminating through communication.

I know that the volumes can be calculated with volumetric methods but formation integrity isnt as well known. Who is responsible? Are these old wells plugged? With the amount of drilling, who is monitoring this? I could be wrong and perhaps they have a handle on it but, who are they. Is it the operators, state, or who and what motivates them.
