The empirical evidence is that hazards are ALREADY DEMONSTRATED to be manageable. "Long term effects" are unknown, say those who fear catastrophe. Well, think about how "studies" at the turn of the last century might have predicted the hazzards in the nascent automobile industry. Pending actual experience, there was no way to know.
