The WV legislature&#039;s new effort to finalize legislation regulating gas drilling by summer or early fall is good news.

Monroe County and Gordy Oil Co. have had to resort to a memorandum of understanding to address issues that should be regulated by state law. The result is additional expenses for Gordy which its competitors don&#039;t have to bear. There should be a level, well-defined playing field for all prospective drillers in WV.</description>
