Year of the Tree!

Morgantown’s Year of the Tree

Greetings from the Tree Committee Planners:

A costume and sign-making party is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Monongalia Friends Meeting House, 648 E. Brockway Ave., Morgantown. Bring imaginative costume and sign-making items to share, along with craft supplies (glue, glue guns, tape, etc.).

Let’s make a great showing to celebrate and honor Morgantown’s trees! People of all ages are welcome, children should be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see you at the party and parade!

Please distribute this invitation widely to your friends and to members of your organization. If you can, let us know how many people are coming.

We love a parade! and we invite you to join Year of the Tree supporters to march in Morgantown’s Fourth of July parade dressed as trees and other woodland flora and fauna. You’re welcome to meet us at the top of High Street an hour before the parade starts, or, if you’re watching the parade along High Street, feel free to step into the parade and join us as we march by.

Parade starts at 5:00 pm, Thursday, July 4. High Street, downtown Morgantown. We’ll meet at 4:00 pm in the vicinity of North High St.

Costumes and signs are highly encouraged (G-rated only). Dress as your favorite wood nymph or tree! Make a sign expressing your most creative tree sentiment!

Thank you! Year of the Tree organizing committee

We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.”
