Pierpont Community & Technical College is offering free training for oil and gas industry jobs through Marcellus ShaleNET, a grant program from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. The ShaleNET Floorhand training is a three week (120 hour) intensive course that certifies and prepares students to work on natural gas and oil rigs at the entry level in the Floorhand position.

“This is an outstanding training opportunity for anyone serious about getting a job in the oil and gas industry,” said Paul Schreffler, Pierpont Vice President for Workforce Education. “In addition to the practical training, this program also provides job placement assistance for successful graduates.”

Students will learn the basic rules of gas industry safety and gain an understanding of the skills gas industry production companies are looking for in new employees. Students will also become aware of the range and diversity of careers in the gas industry. The course content includes knowledge, skills and certifications in safety, CPR, defensive driving, rig components, rigging systems, well control, hydraulics, and basic electrical.

The ShaleNET grant covers the cost of the tuition for the program. Participants will have some out of pocket expenses to cover the required background check and drug screening. Students must also submit a physical form signed by their doctor indicating they are “fit to work.” Students also supply their own steel-toed boots for all outdoor work and must possess a valid driver’s license. Other safety and instructional materials are provided.

The next round of training runs September 10-28, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Pierpont’s Center for Workforce Education, 320 Adams Street, in Fairmont.

Students must finish the registration and screening process by September 1st to participate. Space is limited. For information on how to register and apply, contact Pierpont Continuing Education at (304) 367-4920 or visit www.pierpont.edu/ce.

I’m looking for an opportunity to learn a new job in the oil field industry. I feel this is too good to be true.

So please send me free training information on courses about frac/training as a fracking crew worker.

Richard
